General Compliance Guidelines
Compliance Guidelines for copy and design of mailings:
- Must clearly state product marketed, such as insurance or annuity.
- Must avoid any suggestion/appearance of government sponsorship or
endorsement.
- Disclosures should be made in a clear and conspicuous manner that
the purpose of the mailing is for the solicitation of insurance.
- If lead-generating device, disclosure should be made in a clear
and conspicuous manner that follow-up contact will be made by an agent
or insurance company.
- Disclosures must be prominently displayed and not minimized. (Most
refer to minimum 12 pt font size.)
- If taxes mentioned, should include a tax advice disclaimer.
- If the copy is product specific, it should disclose states where
product is or is not available; such as may not be available in all
states or State variations may apply.
